About Our Event
We’ve all seen Chain Reaction (aka Rube Goldberg) Machines in action, whether in a movie or a YouTube video. Basically there is a simple task like “pop a balloon” - and then people create a series of fun actions that eventually lead to the task at hand. The more creative and intricate, the better!
With our Chain Reaction event, your group gets to build your own Chain Reaction Machines!
At the start of the event, each team randomly picks a card that gives them their Task. Teams are then given a number of items including dominoes, marbles, pvc pipe, etc.
We also give Teams opportunities to play games in order to win additional building materials.
And now the fun begins - as teams sketch, create and test their own Rube Goldberg Machines.
Once the building phase is complete, each team presents their machine to the group, quietly praying that it works! Teams are ultimately judged on Creativity, Complexity and Presentation, as awards are presented at the end of the event.
