10 Best Indoor Team Building Activities

Team Building activities offer a chance for employees to get to know each other, share a few laughs and create positive memories in the workplace. When done right, regularly scheduled team building programs can strengthen morale, enhancing productivity and workplace satisfaction. When done wrong, they can lead to eye-rolls and grimaces. So we don't suggest trying to run these activities on your own because you don't want your employees to feel like they're working at Dunder Mifflin!

If you're looking for some tried and true team building activities that are in a weather-proof, controlled setting, here are the 10 best indoor team building activities:

And Now a Word From Our Sponsors (Make Your Own Commercials!)

We've all dreamed of being on the big screen - and this team building event actually gives you the opportunity to star in your own commercials! Make Your Own Commercials is a perfect indoor team building activity as each person in your group gets to choose to be in front of the camera - or behind it, as you write, shoot and star in your very own commercials. Our team at Feet First Events then edits the footage on-site, and you'll get to watch your finished commercials on the big screen later that day.

This activity lets everyone unleash their creativity and shine as actors, writers, directors or crew members. Everyone is involved, and once the final ads are presented, players can win awards across different creative categories.

Style Your Soles

Style Your Soles is all about originality and self-expression. For this activity, teams create their own line of shoes, incorporating decorative and themed elements. Here's how it works:

  1. Teams are given a selection of plain canvas shoes.
  2. Each team is assigned a theme, like music or movies.
  3. Players work together to create a line of shoes using the provided fabric markers, stencils and other supplies.
  4. Teams then name their shoe line and create a poster, commercial or jingle to advertise their creations.
  5. All teams then vote for the Best Designs, Best Shoe Line and Best Presentation.
  6. And at the conclusion of the event, all of the shoes are donated to a local homeless shelter.

LEGO Build

Test out your engineering genius with LEGO Build, an incredibly creative team building event that lets employees build replicas of world famous landmarks. Here's what makes it one of the best corporate team building activities for indoor spaces:

  • Each team randomly selects a photo of a world famous landmark.
  • You'll build a replica of the landmark using hundreds of LEGO pieces.
  • Teams also have multiple opportunities to play games to win additional building supplies. For example, if you are building the Taj Mahal, your team might play a game that helps you win a cake dome to place on top of your structure. (Otherwise, you'll have a really difficult time building a dome out of LEGO!
  • After building the landmarks, every team makes a short, entertaining presentation to the group.
  • At the end of the event, teams vote for the best landmarks and best presentations

Michael-CAN-gelo

Stack up your teamwork skills, can by can, with the Michael-CAN-gelo event. This program provides the perfect platform for employees to embrace their creativity, have fun and contribute much-needed food to local food banks.

a group of people behind a bridge made out of cans and a sign saying team 2

Similar to the LEGO Build, the event starts with each team receiving a photograph of a famous statue, landmark or building. Teams are also given hundreds of canned goods and additional building supplies. Players must then build smaller re-creations of the landmarks, with opportunities to compete in extra challenges to win more building supplies that enhance the structures.

Once all the structures are complete, teams vote for the best structure, and a winner is crowned. Your company then makes a formal donation of the canned goods to a local food bank. Feet First handles all of the details with the charity so it's a one-stop shop for team building and charitable giving!

American (or Your Company!) Idol

Hit the high notes of teamwork with an entertaining and downright hilarious round of American (or Your Company!) Idol. This indoor team building activity is perfect for large groups because we can put everyone into teams, taking the scrutiny off of individuals - and allowing for some really entertaining choreography as some people might choose to be back up dancers rather than the solo singers.

Teams are given two versions of a popular song — a regular version and the karaoke version. Team members rehearse in advance before performing in front of the group.

Teams can also choose to rewrite the songs with inside jokes or company-specific terms. They are given a set amount of time to rehearse the vocals and dance moves, and we can even arrange for a choreographer to be on-site to help polish the dance moves. Once the show starts, each team performs their masterpiece with costumes, wigs, some very funny props — and hopefully some great dance moves, all to impress our "celebrity" judges!
