We’re just gonna come out and say it: everyone loves fall.
From pumpkin-spiced lattes and baked goods to good-ole sweater weather, we can’t get enough of this season!
Why not incorporate everyone’s favorite season into your team-building fun? If you’re stuck for ideas, we have a few good ones up our knitted cable-knit sleeves.
Things to Consider for Fall Team Building Events
Before scheduling your team-building event this fall, you may want to consider a few factors. The weather is changing, we’re not out of our ‘new norm’ yet, and there are tons of seasonal experiences that only take place in Autumn.
If you want to make this fall’s team-building event the best yet, here are a few tips to get you on the right track.
Indoors? Outdoors? Or Virtual?
On one hand, outdoor team building events are just so much dang fun (and let’s be honest: safe in the times of COVID). On the other hand, Mother Nature is a bit tumultuous in the fall and outdoor events are more likely to get rained out (or succumb to weather abnormalities, such as poor air quality due to forest fires).
If you’re positive that you want to schedule an outdoor event, we recommend brainstorming a backup plan in case the weather isn’t in your favor on that day. Either make a plan to move your event indoors if you can find a large enough space to socially distance. Or plan a Virtual Event as a backup — just to be on the safe side!
If you are planning an Indoor Event make sure to have a large enough space to socially distance. And if you’ve been working from home, make sure that all of your participants feel safe being inside with their coworkers. Many people aren’t there yet, and you don’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable when the goal of a team building event is to make sure you are building bonds with one another!
The safest bet this Fall is to opt for a Virtual Event. There are so many fun and interactive options out there, and you won’t have to worry about bad weather or any Covid safety issues!
Autumn Fun – If you choose to brave the great outdoors!
We can’t wait to don our fall sweaters, grab a pumpkin beverage, and get outside. If you want to wow your teammates, appeal to everyone’s love of autumn by organizing an event that truly embraces the season.
No matter if you live in New England, the South, the Pacific Northwest, or the California coast — everyone loves a good fall-themed activity.
Pumpkin patches, fall festivals, and apple orchards are all great locations for fall team-building events.
And who could forget about Halloween? Why not encourage your team to dress up in costume for this team-building event? It’ll be spooktacular!
Best Team Building Ideas for Fall 2021
Here are our favorite team-building ideas for fall 2021. Even if you don’t want to incorporate a fall theme into your event, we recommend embracing the cooler temperatures and cornucopia of outdoor events.
Pumpkin patches offer plenty of creative opportunities for FUN!
From corn mazes to games and food and prizes, it was like the pumpkin patch was practically designed for a fall team-building challenge.
We recommend calling around to different pumpkin patches or apple orchards in advance — as these spots tend to book up fast.
Explore your city center with a fun and creative scavenger hunt that allows you to get into teams for some light-hearted competition!
You can make it a photo hunt, with teams taking pictures of themselves at interesting locations – or you can go one step further by making it a video hunt with teams shooting videos of themselves reenacting scenes from movies or history!
City centers don’t require permits so you can chart out your course in advance and meet on a street corner. It’s also fun to end it on a patio of a restaurant where you can have something to eat and drink. Maybe the members of the winning team get a free lunch?!
Haunted Escape Room
Escape rooms are already a little spooky. Why not kick things up a notch by creating (or renting) a haunted escape room?
Your team needs to solve riddles to escape the haunted manor. If they are able to move through each challenge, they’ll unlock the secret passageway that leads them back to safety.
Autumnal Cocktail Tasting
If your team happens to be a little more low-key (no forced fun or competitions for us, thank-you-very-much!), hire a bartender to organize an autumnal cocktail tasting.
Everyone gets divided into teams and learns how to make a different fall cocktail. At the end of the session, the other teams get to taste your cocktail and decide which one is the winner!
Halloween-Themed Spooky Game Show
If you are working from home and looking for a fun way to get everyone together virtually, how about a Halloween-themed Virtual Game Show?!
Feet First offers an incredibly fun and creative live-hosted show that includes several different games, all with a Halloween twist. Games will include a little bit of Family Feud (Most Popular Candy Bars given out at Halloween), a round of Spooky Trivia (Name the ancient Celtic festival that many attribute to be the origins of Halloween), and we might even test your knowledge of Horror Movies with a little game of Name That Scary Movie!
We use Zoom Breakout Rooms so team members can discuss their answers before submitting them to our hosts. It’s an incredibly high-energy and fun show!
Virtual Escape Room – Legends of the Hidden Temple!
The creative team at Feet First were also a part of the creative teams that developed the hit TV adventure shows Legends of the Hidden Temple, Survivor, and Endurance!
For the virtual world we have created a live-hosted Virtual version of Legends of the Hidden Temple!
If you were a child in the 90’s, chances are you watched and LOVED the show! Did you always wonder if you could assemble the Silver Monkey, or how you would fare against the Temple Guards? This virtual event will finally give you your chance!
If you’re not familiar with the show, don’t worry! This is an exciting virtual Escape Room with an awesome storyline to keep everyone engaged and on their toes until the very end!
